Avocado Banana Smoothie
While I was away from the blog, I received several emails asking for Kids Zone recipes. The Kids Zone blog was an extension of Sailu’s food blog, where I posted kid-friendly recipes that I had prepared for my son, Nehal. Unfortunately, due to technical problems, we lost most of the content of the Kids Zone. Because of your repeated requests for baby recipes, I’m going to post some old recipes from the Kids Zone blog. I’m also going to post some new recipes I make for Nehal.
I like to post all the meals I prepare for Nehal every day, whether it’s breakfast, a snack or a tiffin in the evening. But due to lack of time, I can’t do it. This month I will try to add a section to the blog where I can post a picture of Nehal’s daily meal (any meal of the day) followed by a recipe. These are usually egg dishes, sandwiches, wraps, smoothies and shakes, quick snacks and breakfast recipes.
There is a high demand for food recipes for pregnant women and women who have recently given birth, baby food, infant care, and home remedies for minor teething problems. I’m not sure I can do justice to that. But I’ll try to answer a few questions from my own experience, time permitting.

The warm season is here and it’s time for refreshments and summer cocktails. One of our family friends brought avocados from her garden in Uganda. We all love lawyers at home. I usually make an avocado or banana smoothie as sold by street vendors in Ooty, Kodaikanal, Mysore. I also use avocado in wraps, salads and guacamole.

In India, the avocado is called mahanfal or butter fruit. Personally, I don’t like adding other fruits to an avocado smoothie. I like to keep it simple with a pinch of cinnamon and date syrup to sweeten them. Garnish with sweet basil flower seeds and crushed nuts of your choice and your summer morning smoothie is ready in less than 5 minutes. If you want to thin the smoothie, add boiled and cooled milk. Those who are lactose intolerant can omit milk and use fresh coconut water, soy or almond milk. That makes it a vegan banana avocado shake. Add a pinch of cinnamon powder for a delicious taste to the avocado-banana smoothie.
