Earlier this year, Wendy reintroduced breakfast throughout the country, including some unique products such as breakfast bacon. Let’s look at that bad breakfast.
Wendy describes her Baconator Breakfast as follows:
Grilled sausage, American cheese, apple-wood smoked bacon, grade A egg, (deep breathing) more cheese and more bacon, all topped with Swiss cheese sauce. Don’t cancel your shift. Destroy it.
Almost every fast-food restaurant can point to Wendy’s usual bacon boy as the culprit for the pleasure of waiting. The original contains only half a pound of beef, 6 slices of bacon, cheese, ketchup and mayonnaise, and the delicacy could put most heavyweights in a coma. The breakfast option seems to be designed to bring back the morning sleep you did at school.
It should be noted that most breakfast rolls tend to use only one meat for whatever reason, but Wendy’s takes it up by adding a sausage and a double portion of bacon to a breakfast sandwich. The Breakfast Baconator normally costs $3.99, but for now you can get it for free if you buy it on the Wendy’s application along with another paid item.
Breakfast Baconator is packed like a hamburger, so much so that I was a little worried that they accidentally threw away the usual. But when I picked it up, I realized that this breakfast sandwich was seriously lacking in the weight that a big ass burger provides. It looks like the bacon is on a premium hamburger sandwich, which not only explains the packaging, but also causes problems.
For me, a hamburger sandwich is no use as a breakfast sandwich. In all my days I never thought about the standard sandwich when it comes to taking my breakfast. Another problem arises if you think the bread is too big for the ingredients. As you can see, the square of the sausage used as a base doesn’t even touch the edges of the bread. This makes the sandwich look a bit messy and sloppy.
Luckily for breakfast bacon, the ingredient other than sandwiches certainly shines. The sausage, although small in the context of the brioche, has a sweet and salty taste. The fat was for the most part a little charred, but also abundant enough to still be divine. The combination of cheese slices and cheddar sauce was decadent and almost reminiscent of a hollandaise. The fried egg was delicious and complemented the richness of the sandwich. The fast-food geekette noticed that the cheese sauce was the highlight of the sandwich.
Put it all together and the sandwich is a firm nut. Wendy has bet on the choice of scones because it makes no sense to have breakfast, and it’s also like wearing an XXL sweatshirt with foreplay. The rest of the ingredients compensate, creating a decadent selection that most other breakfast restaurants don’t have.
This sandwich would win a reader’s prize if they knew about the bread. One too many cookies is enough for me.
